ACADEMIC ADVISING COORDINATORS
Academic Advising Coordinators are located in the Center for Counseling, Advising and Academic Support, in room B-100. These professional advisors work with faculty to advise students who have completed their basic skills courses and have more than 30 credits. Working in conjunction with Academy Coordinators, they ensure that students undergo a smooth transition from first-year advisement into departmental advisement. They also work on special projects to consistently improve the overall quality of advisement services at the college. They serve on special committees, analyze data and assist Student Affairs to enroll students when they first arrive at the college in the process known as NSAR (New Student Advisement & Registration).
Students who achieve 30 credits and pass all basic skill courses are not required to seek advisement (except for those students in special programs), but they are encouraged to meet with faculty--and, in their absence, Academic Advising Coordinators--for course selection, transfer planning and career advice. Of course, this group of students may also choose to register on their own using DegreeWorks or other tools.
