Admission Requirement
A high school diploma, its American equivalent
(a G.E.D.) or its foreign equivalent (secondary
school credentials from another country).
The SATs and ACT tests are not required because
students take the ACT placement tests at
LaGuardia after they are admitted to the college.
If you have already taken either test, your scores
may exempt you from having to take our placement
tests.
When To Apply
Starting May 1st we will accept applications directly from students for the
Fall 2008 semester.

Is there any advantage to applying early?
Yes. Like all community colleges, the earlier
you apply, the earlier you can register for
classes and confirm your class schedule,
including the days and times your classes will
meet. Students who work or have busy personal
schedules find that registering early allows
them the most flexibility in scheduling classes.
Also, at LaGuardia, if you are admitted and take
your placement tests 2 months before the first
day of classes, but do not score well on a test, you
may be eligible to take a free refresher course.
After the course, you will get to re-test in that
subject before registering for classes. This can
save you money and get you started on your
credit classes sooner.
Apply Early for Financial Aid
We strongly recommend that all applicants file a
Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as
possible. You can do this before you apply to
LaGuardia. Many non-U.S. citizens will not be
eligible for
federal financial aid, but may need FAFSA
results to qualify for state or private
financial aid, which is why we recommend that
everyone file a FAFSA application early.
Information
Sessions
Prospective students are encouraged to meet with
an admissions counselor regarding their higher
education goals. The counselor can help you
examine your objectives, evaluate the
requirements of the programs offered at
LaGuardia, and discuss career opportunities.

Important Things to Know
- Official high school and college
transcripts must be delivered to LaGuardia
in a sealed envelope or sent from those
schools directly to our Admissions Office.
- Please write your social security or
student ID number on all pages of every
document you submit to Admissions.
- Every student has to satisfy the New York State immunization requirement for measles, mumps and rubella and must also submit the Meningitis Response Form.
- If you have a secondary school, college
or university document (including
transcripts) written in a language other
than English, you will need to have it
professionally translated. You should then
submit the English translation with either:
- A sealed (by the school) original
transcript or
- A copy of the original transcript.
Immediately arrange for the school to
send the original transcript directly to
LaGuardia Admissions.
- We cannot accept wallet-sized diplomas.
