The Pre-College Academic Programming (PCAP) Department’s mission is to prepare students to enter college, earn a High School Equivalency Diploma, develop English language skills or start a career.

Classes for adults 19 and over to develop reading, writing and math skills to prepare for the High School Equivalency Exam (TASC).
Bridge to College and Careers
Classes that help adults 19 and over develop reading, writing and math skills to prepare for the High School Equivalency Exam, while focusing on a career path in science, business or health.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Classes to help students develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English. ESL classes are offered at the college campus and at a public school in Woodside, Queens, NY.
NYBEST Technical Training Programs
Classes that prepare students to earn a career certification while they develop basic skills in reading, writing and math.
CUNY Start provides intensive preparation in academic reading, writing and math as well as "college success." The program enrolls prospective CUNY students who have been accepted to college because they have a high school or equivalency diploma but are not ready for college-level work based on their scores on the CUNY Assessment Tests.
