| Receive high quality training and gain or enhance your equipment operator skills. These small
classes allow for individual instruction, as needed, and hands-on practice operating the equipment.
BACKHOE
Backhoes are used in applications such as digging footings, basements, drainage ditches, utility
trenching, backfilling, and maintaining slopes and embankments in construction, industrial and
landscaping settings.
EXCAVATOR
Excavators are used in many ways, such as digging (trenches, holes, foundations), demolition,
general grading/landscaping, and heavy lifting (lifting and placing of pipes, river dredging ).
By course end, you will be familiar with procedures for checking, operating and maintaining these
two types of heavy equipment as well as appropriate safety rules.
A large portion of this course is held outside; please wear weather appropriate clothing. When
working with machinery, you should never wear loose fitting clothing. Comfortable, long-sleeved
shirts and long pants combined with good steel-toed work shoes will each provide a layer of
protection.
