College Exchange Programs
LaGuardia graduates are more
likely to transfer to 4-year
colleges, where they can earn a
Bachelor’s degree, than the average
community college graduate.
Therefore, as The World’s Community
College, LaGuardia has established
exchange programs in New York City,
New York State and in 31 countries
around the world, which provide
students with the opportunity to
experience life at a residential
4-year college.
Barnard- LaGuardia Intercollegiate
Program

residential summer program at
Barnard College, a prestigious

affiliated with Columbia University,
for highly motivated students

stipend upon completion of the

courses at Barnard (at no charge)
during the 2004-2005 academic year
and receive academic credit at
LaGuardia. Applications are usually
available in early February.
Vassar "Exploring Transfer" and
"Exploring Research"
Both of these are intensive 5-week,

Vassar
College in Poughkeepsie, NY.
"Exploring Transfer" seeks students
with good writing skills, strong
motivation and a solid college
record of academic accomplishment.
Its companion program, "Exploring
Research" is specifically for
students with an interest in
science.
All expenses are paid, including
room and board. Applications are

Study Abroad

opportunities in 31 countries on 6
continents. You can also do your

Taking a Class at Another CUNY
College
LaGuardia degree students may take
up to 2 courses at another City
University of New York college by
using the permit procedure. Students
need to secure approvals in advance
from the appropriate academic
departments and the Registrar’s
Office. Under normal circumstances,
only courses not being offered by
LaGuardia in a particular semester
can be considered and the course(s)
must be transferable back to your
LaGuardia degree.
