June 2011 – Innovative Leadership Award Reception
LaGuardia Community College faculty, staff and students joined friends and supporters at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers on June 7, 2011 to honor Edward I. Koch, the 105th Mayor of New York City and John Vogt, Regional Director of Restaurant Operations for White Castle, as recipients of the LaGuardia Community College Foundation’s 2011 Innovative Leadership Award.

	Donor Recognition/Scholarship Recipient Reception LaGuardia Community College scholarship recipients had a chance to meet their donors face to face to thank them for their support at a reception that took place on December 2. The event was attended by more than 120 guests, including 60 students, three of whom addressed the audience consisting of their peers, and faculty, staff, corporate, foundation and individual friends of the Foundation. 	Passing of the Gavel The LaGuardia Community College Foundation formally recognized the term of incoming Chairman Paul Higbee in a ceremony at the Foundation’s Annual Meeting on December 2, 2010. Outgoing Foundation Chairman and Board Director, John Vogt, passed The Chairman's gavel to Mr. Higbee.
	Foundation Director Runs to Raise LaGuardia Scholarship Funds in honor of his mother Ismael Betancourt, a LaGuardia Community College Foundation Director, was among over 36,000 runners who crossed the finish line of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on October 10, 2010.
	October 2010 Three New Board Directors Elected The LaGuardia Community College Foundation Board elected three new directors. Deborah Chan, Arvind Dharia and Angie Yu. The new directors will serve for three years, and are eligible for a second term thereafter.
	June 2010 – Innovative Leadership Award Reception The LaGuardia Community College Foundation presented 2010 Innovative Leadership Awards to founding directors Lily Gavin, owner of Dazies Restaurant in Sunnyside and Tai Wang, Co-Founder and Vice President of WAC Lighting, at a reception held at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers on June 1, 2010.

President Gail O. Mellow with honorees Peter L. Dicapua, Peter Koo and Robert C. Morgan, ESQ.	June 2009 Innovative Leadership Award Reception The LaGuardia Community College Foundation presented 2009 Innovative Leadership Awards to founding directors Peter L. DiCapua, the outgoing chairperson and COO of Atco Properties and Management, Inc.; Peter Koo, a pharmacist and owner of Starside Drugs in Flushing; and Robert C. Morgan, Esq., a partner at the Manhattan law firm of Ropes and Gray at a reception held at the United Nations in June. The event raised over $100,000 in scholarship funds for LaGuardia students.

April 2009 Passing of the Gavel The LaGuardia Community College Foundation formally recognized the term of incoming Chairman John Vogt in a ceremony at the College in April. Outgoing Foundation Chairman and Board Director Peter L. DiCapua passed the Chairman’s gavel to Mr. Vogt before Board Directors, LaGuardia President Dr. Gail O. Mellow and LaGuardia Vice President of Institutional Advancement, E. Ramone Segree.
	March 2009 Spring Into Action Scholarship Campaign Launched The LaGuardia Community College Foundation raised $29,000 in scholarship support for degree-pursuing students with financial need through its “Spring Into Action” fundraising campaign. From March 1 through May 29, the Foundation received gifts ranging from $50 to $5,000 as members of the LaGuardia community showed their support for education.
	February 2009 LaGuardia’s Vision Summit LaGuardia Community College Foundation Board Chairman John Vogt shared his experience as a participant in LaGuardia’s 2009 Vision Summit.
