Project Class and Computers

The students have computer class. They work in different programs. They write four compositions and use Microsoft Word, and also they do research on the Internet to create PowerPoint presentations.  They come to the lab to improve their writing, reading and speaking skills through the use of software and the Internet. They love this period. Students learn about spelling, new words, grammar, essay structures and more. The classes are fun!!

Speech Lab

In the Speech Center students improve their pronunciation, practice reading material learned in project class and rehearse for speeches and oral presentations. Students build confidence in their English speaking skills and improve their fluency.

The Midtown Hall Meeting

SIELP students meet in the middle of the summer. Two representatives from each class talk about what they like most about the program and how it can be improved more. In 2006, students saw a PowerPoint Presentation prepared by Tamin Dhali (former SIELP student).

They also put to work their abilities of drawing either pictures or graffiti for a book that the program does at the end of the summer and also for a t-shirt.

  1. Read 3 books:

    2) ...If You Lived at the Time of The American Revolution by Kay Moore.
    3) My Brother Sam is Dead by James L. Collier & Christopher Collier.
     
  3. Go to two field trips.

  4. 1) Fraunces Tavern Museum.
    2) Old Bethpage Restoration.
     
  5. Create PowerPoint Presentations.
  6. Write four compositions.
  7. Do a recording Project.
