Biography
Dr. Belkharraz was an Electrical Engineer at Sibelec Electric Repairs during the period 1995-1997. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering. Since March 2004 he has been on the faculty of LaGuardia Community College where he currently holds the title of Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science.
Dr. Belkharraz received the positive assessment of engineering qualifications from Canadian Council of Professional Engineers on December 2002. Dr. He also received the best session award at the American Control Conference, Denver, CO June 2003. He is the recipient of the CUNY Collaborative Incentive Grant of $60,000.00 for the period October 2004 – October 2006.
Dr. Belkharraz has played a very crucial role to obtain a Title V grant to establish the LaGuardia Youth Center for Engineering Excellence (LYCEE). LYCEE has been his dream for many years. He has tried to get funding for LYCEE from two different sources but in vain. Finally, his dream came true and LaGuardia Community College along with Vaughn College of Aeronautics have won a Title V grant in the amount of $5,000,000.00 to be shared equally. The grant is being used to establish LYCEE, equip two engineering labs, along with other projects.
Dr. Belkharraz’s area of research is fault tolerant flight control design for aircraft control surface failures. His work on eigenstructure assignment for fault tolerant flight control design was funded by a NASA Faculty Award Research (Principal Investigator: Dr. Sobel) during the period 1998 – 2002. Dr. Belkharraz has published numerous research papers in the area of flight control.
