    The evening will include performances by poets and spoken word artists within LaGuardia Community College, as well as a select number of diverse, accomplished poets from the greater New York community. The theme of this year's series is Art in Muslim Societies, and poetry will encompass a range of empowering and creative voices.


    There will be 20 slots for poets to read3-4 minutes a piece. Students are encouraged to sign up for slots in Room E-241. Deadline to sign up for performing is October 15th.

    Finalist for this year’s Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition!

    Come hear LAGCC faculty member Lisa DeSpain’s last performance before heading out to compete in this year’s Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition. Music will include her competition repertoire as well as new songs from her upcoming album “Let’s Not Talk About the Weather.”

     *THREE GRACES is a Greek/Ottoman tavern opera with music by Ruth

    Margraff and Nikos Brisco's Cafe Antarsia Ensemble*

    *THREE GRACES is haunted by the defiance of young rebels and artists

    in public squares and epic taverns at the end of the Ottoman Empire and

    right now in Istanbul and Athens.  This is a panoramic Iliad for the

    protestors of modern Greece and Turkey, inspired by Nikos Kazantzakis, Greek blues and Turkish art.
