Long Island City, NY—December 12, 2013—To assist Queens residents applying for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer held a town hall on December 9 at LaGuardia Community College where a representative from Planned Parenthood outlined the benefits of the Affordable Care Act for students, individuals and small businesses who need health insurance as well as provided information on the application process.
“The town hall held at LaGuardia Community College was a wonderful opportunity to share critical information with the Queens community on the Affordable Care Act,” said Linda Mellon, Executive Director of LaGuardia’s Business Services Programs. “Thanks to the leadership of Council Member Van Bramer, individuals and small businesses alike gained a much better understanding of the importance of the Affordable Care Act.”
“I support President Obama’s Affordable Care Act. My goal is to make sure that the people I represent have affordable health insurance and know how to better navigate healthcare reforms,” said Council Member Van Bramer. “Thank you, LaGuardia Community College, and the participating organizations, for helping to organize this town hall.”
Dr. Gail O. Mellow, president of the College, acknowledged: "Councilman Van Bramer is on the frontlines in helping our community understand what they need to know about the Affordable Care Act and how they can get high-quality, affordable health insurance.
