     Director of Veterinary Technology
    OFFICE: C-252

BIOGRAPHY: According to Dr. Reid, "There is nothing else I have ever wanted to do." She has had a love, respect and passion for animals since her early childhood, "Growing up in the southwest corner of Tennessee, I of course rescued every animal from the hills of the Ozarks to the Appalachian Mountains. I also spent summers at ranch camps and spent most of my time in the mountains with my family, dog, cats and horses."

Beginning at age 12 and lasting through veterinary school, Dr. Reid worked as a veterinary assistant at a range of practices, which included equine, small animal, mixed animal and emergency after hours. "As a veterinary assistant in high school," she says, "one of the first surgeries I participated in was an abdominal exploratory on a dog that ate a Timex watch. After removal, it was still ticking, which followed along with the company’s advertising motto at the time, ‘Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.’"

A native of Germantown, Tennessee, Dr. Reid initially attended the University of Evansville, but then graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a minor in Chemistry in 1998.

After two years working as an agriculture extension agent for the University of Tennessee, she entered the University of Wisconsin at Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. During veterinary school, Dr. Reid was honored with the WEZAM Excellence in Outside Activities Award, an Advanced Opportunity Scholarship, and a University of Wisconsin Summer Externship Scholarship. In 2004, she graduated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Reid also has a PhD. in Biomedical Technology, is an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow and has worked at the Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin, Germany, as well as the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. She is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the New York State and New York City Veterinary Medical Associations.

Dr. Reid and her significant other, Michael Love, a Design/Builder by trade but actor at heart, have a Lab mix named Annabelle, two cats named Alex and Luke, and a Tennessee Walking Horse named Chances. Her hobbies include competitive women's artistic gymnastics, volunteering with Junior League and Chi Omega Alumni, and writing children's books.
