Blackboard Building Blocks are small applications added to the Blackboard Learning System that extend the usability and functionality of Blackboard, provide customization, or help with administration.

Below is a list of the Blackboard Building Blocks currently under evaluation at CUNY for use with Blackboard 9.1. Links to manuals or instructions for their use are provided where available. Please note: some Building Blocks are installed for particular campuses only and not all Building Blocks currently being tested will be accepted for later use.

All Building Blocks are reviewed in an exhaustive testing process and must receive approval before being installed in the live Blackboard environment. In order to suggest a new Building Block be considered for use at CUNY, please contact us.

Due to the ongoing work required as part of the upgrade to Blackboard 9.1, requests for new Building Blocks will be accepted after the start of the Spring 2013 semester.

• Google Chrome 10
• Firefox 4

No longer supported:

• Internet Explorer 6, 7
• Firefox 1.x, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5
• Safari 2.0, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and any version on Windows
• Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4 “Tiger”
• Java 5, although it may continue to work
