Luis Carranza
Hello! My name is Luis Carranza, and I am very fond of what LaGuardia has for me. This wonderful learning institution has granted me the ability to prove myself that it does not end here. There are a number of programs within the parameters of many majors that allow you to go further than you would have thought possible in a two-year college. Using them to your advantage is the tricky part, but with the right advice, you can make this school work for you!

James Bisogno
My name is James Bisogno, and I am enrolled in my final semester at LaGuardia Community College as a Writing and Literature major. I am currently tutoring English (from the remedial level to 103 and beyond) in the College Discovery Resource Center, as well as proof reading any college level writing material presented in any subject. I have been with the center since the summer of 2012, and have enjoyed helping students to the best of my abilities.

Te Yu Shu
My name is Te Yu and I am an English tutor at the Resource Center where I assist students with their course work. I started working here because when I was 18, I chose to attend LaGuardia Community College. With that decision, I joined the College Discovery program. I met Kyoko Toyama, my counselor, who helped me map out my future. In 2011, I graduated with honors and transferred to Hunter College. Now, I am on the pursuit of organizing a nonprofit that will prevent foster youths from being homeless as they age out of the foster care system.

Nanci Velasquez
I have been an assistant English Professor and tutor at LaGuardia Community College. For 3 Years, I was involved in the COPE program, and I have also taught ESL at the Immersion Program (CLIP). I entered LaGuardia as a Psychology Major because I want to help women who have been victims of domestic violence. Along with a psychology degree, I can give women the skills to get into college so they can learn to be independent. I love working with students. Their success is my success.

Luis Alacron
Hello, my name is Luis Alacron. I graduated from Laguardia Community College this past June with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts Math and Science. Being in this school has been a wonderful experience . It taught me about what college life is and it also prepared me for the next step in my academic life. While I was at LaGCC, I also enrolled in a program called College Discovery where I now tutor. This program is wonderful because it has been an important part of my academic success in this school. It provided me with free tutoring and counseling services, which helped me, overcome many of my challenges as an international student. My academic goal is to work doing research on STEM cells and how these cells express themselves into specific structures to then become organs. Thanks to LAGCC, I also got the opportunity to be part of the LSAMP program, which helps students gain experience on research. Now, I am a student of City College, and I am majoring in Biochemistry.
