    Nanci Nanci Velasquez
I have been an assistant English Professor and tutor at LaGuardia Community College. For 3 Years, I was involved in the COPE program, and I have also taught ESL at the Immersion Program (CLIP). I entered LaGuardia as a Psychology Major because I want to help women who have been victims of domestic violence. Along with a psychology degree, I can give women the skills to get into college so they can learn to be independent. I love working with students. Their success is my success.

     Luis A.Luis Alarcon
Hello, my name is Luis Alacron. I graduated from Laguardia Community College this past June with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts Math and Science. Being in this school has been a wonderful experience . It taught me about what college life is and it also prepared me for the next step in my academic life. While I was at LaGCC, I also enrolled in a program called College Discovery where I now tutor. This program is wonderful because it has been an important part of my academic success in this school. It provided me with free tutoring and counseling services, which helped me, overcome many of my challenges as an international student. My academic goal is to work doing research on STEM cells and how these cells express themselves into specific structures to then become organs. Thanks to LAGCC, I also got the opportunity to be part of the LSAMP program, which helps students gain experience on research. Now, I am a student of City College, and I am majoring in Biochemistry.

I look forward to meeting my students and watching them succeed.

     Alexander JonesAlexander Jones
I began my college career in the Fall of 2008 at Keuka College in Keuka Park, NY where I majored in Biochemistry. At the beginning of my college career I had dreams of a career in the dental field as a general dentist or orthodontist. As time passed, and by approximately the end of my junior year the interest in the dental field declined and a new interest had developed. My new interest was toward a career in the Forensic Science laboratory field. After four years, in the spring of 2012, I earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Biochemistry. Upon completion of the program at Keuka College, I was accepted into the Forensic Science Master’s program (M.S.) at Pace University and am currently studying to obtain the degree in 2014. I am the new addition to the College Discovery program team as a tutor in Math, Biology and Chemistry at LaGuardia Community College.
