This coming weekend, CUNYfirst will be unavailable from Saturday, August 2 at 4 p.m. to Sunday, August 3 at 6 p.m. Professionals from around CUNY will conduct the annual CUNYfirst Disaster Recovery Drill. During that time, subject matter experts will perform tasks they would do if the primary CUNYfirst System were to shut down unexpectedly. The drill will help CUNY learn how quickly the University can react to such a scenario, make the backup system available to users, and restore the primary servers to full capacity for all users.CUNYfirst is hosted outside the New York City area, near Atlanta, Georgia, as a way to ensure that when emergencies happen here (weather, power interruption, etc.) that the system keeps working normally. CUNY's backup system resides near Memphis, Tennessee. Both of these systems will be used in the drill this weekend. All users, with the exception of individuals who are participating in the drill, will be unable to log into CUNYfirst. CUNY will report out how the University performed in a future communication.Thank you for your patience in supporting this very important exercise. We thank everyone for their patience.
