  • IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL FACULTY

    Important Attendance Message

Recording student attendance is important for the student and the College. As you have in the past, please continue to use Web Attendance on a daily basis to support the College’s retention efforts and provide faculty tools to support grading.

Once per session, for the Census Date, Verification of Attendance Rosters are required to be entered into both the Web Attendance system and CUNYfirst. This has a direct impact on our student’s financial aid eligibility.

For Census Date reporting for the Fall I 2012 Session, you can enter attendance data for your classes into CUNYfirst now. The deadline for Census Date attendance reporting for the Fall I 2012 Session is Wednesday, September 26 at 12 Midnight.

How to use the CUNYfirst Census Date Reporting

You can see how to use attendance in CUNYfirst by downloading the faculty guide to attendance verification. Visit the Training Guides and click on the "Faculty Self Service" category, and then click on "Verification Attendance Roster."

To view a step-by-step video tutorial on attendance verification in CUNYfirst, visit our website training page and at the top of the page, click on the second item listed: “Attendance Verification Step-by-Step Video Tutorial.”

    Need Help? Have Questions?

If you need help or if you have any questions regarding attendance in CUNYfirst, please complete the form on Questions/ Need Help, or contact the Registrar's Office at 718-482-6011 during normal business hours.

  •  Advisement Information
    • Please do not send students to departments if they have active Negative Service Indicators (formerly known as Stops) from other CUNY schools. These indicators DO NOT restrict our students from registering at LaGuardia.
    • Academic Advisement Departments are asked to transfer student calls regarding CUNYfirst, i.e., claiming account, registration issues, etc., to the Student Information Center at extension 5935.
    • Students requesting in-person assistance with registration or CUNYfirst should be directed to check-in at C-107 (Enrollment Services Center), not B-333. Please be sure to clear the Advisement Service Indicators before they are sent to C-107.
    • As of July 5 we have discontinued the electronic advisement form. This database is still available and it is to be used for reference and view access only. Utilize the advisement method you have traditionally used.
    • Please tell new students to check their VIP page for their NSAR appointment. If students have already been advised, please direct them to C-107; if they need re-advisement, please refer them to Educational Planning located in C-740 or at extension 6170. Please determine if any of these students are included in a special population (CD, ASAP, COPE, OSD, CUNY Start, etc.).
     DegreeWorks
    • DegreeWorks migration to the central system has begun. Until it is completed, the local DegreeWorks system is available, but only reflects status as of June 28th. Any course drops recorded after June 28 were entered in CUNYfirst and are not reflected in the DegreeWorks Audit.
    • Although you can view a student’s academic record for a previous semester in SIMS, it is recommended that you view student records in CUNYfirst under "Student Services Center."
