Exemption & WaiversReduced Internship Hours
The full-time internship should not be reduced to less than 15 hours/week:
Student’s Job Internship Hours
10-14 hours/week a minimum of 20 hours/week
15-25 hours/week a minimum of 15 hours/week
CEP151 & CEP152 Two-Credit Internships – Reduced Hours
There should be no reduction of hours for the two-credit internship.

Internship Success
Participating in internships is an opportunity to build your resume and to explore career options. Internships can serve as a stepping stone as you develop skills and make contacts in your fields of interest. All students can benefit from the freedom of exploration and the increased marketability that internships provide. Internships should be part of your college experience.
Here are strategies to ensure success on your internship:

Clarify your internship goals. What do you hope to learn and gain from the internship? Make sure your goals are realistic and attainable. (Please refer to the information on goal setting and learning objectives on the Internship Forms)
- When you arrive at the internship on your first day, introduce yourself to your internship site supervisor. Discuss your job description and performance.

Review the internship site’s policies; dress code, schedules, attendance and lateness procedures, lunch schedules, etc.

Complete all tasks with enthusiasm and with a positive attitude.

Learn as much as you can about the company/industry. Attend company functions if possible.
- Take initiative and ask questions.
- Network – this is a great time to develop future contacts and references.
- Reflect upon the internship experience. What new skills were developed ?
Contact your Co-op faculty advisor with any questions or concerns regarding your internship. In addition, withdrawing from your internship prior to the end date must be discussed and approved by your Co-op faculty advisor.
