Computer-generated graphics are playing a bigger and bigger role in shaping how we perceive, think about, and respond to the world around us. This program offers a series of ways we can use our home computers to express ourselves using graphics, whether it be in creating a website, a digital movie, simple photographs, more elaborate combinations of pictures and text, or video games.

Course: Introduction to Computer Graphics
This course will introduce you to basic concepts in computer graphics. You'll learn about design, logos, fonts, image resolution, editing photos, how a newspaper page is composed, and the importance of layers in combining text and images. Plus you"ll have the opportunity to experiment with graphic software applications, such as Adobe PhotoShop, both in class and in open lab time. Prerequisite: Good working knowledge of Windows.

Course: Introduction to Digital Photography

Course: Movie-Making 1:
Introduction to Digital Movie-Making Using Your Personal Computer

If you have ever dreamed of a time that you could make your own movie, stop dreaming -the time is now! This is a HANDS-ON introductory course that will teach you step-by-step how to make digital movies on your own personal computer. You will learn basic techniques for scanning, manipulating digital and non-digital images and sound and editing—then put it all together with user-friendly movie-making software. Music video? Family history? Video collage? Documentary? You are the producer—you decide! At the conclusion of the course you will go home with a short digital movie recorded on a CD/DVD, as well as the knowledge of how to make future movies on your own. Prerequisite: Familiarity with Windows and the internet. There are no discounts for this course.

Course: Introduction to PhotoShop 7.0

This course will teach you the basics of Photoshop 7. You will learn color theory, editing, how to generate special effects for images and text and do basic retouching of photos. In addition, you'll see how to set up photos for the web, and create an original photo montage. Prerequisite: Introduction to Computer Graphics or equivalent experience.

Course: Easy Web Page Design Using Microsoft Publisher

This seminar will show you how to easily design web pages using one of the most popular web tools, Microsoft Publisher. You will create entire sites, From the initial concept to the final product, using customized templates. Topics include creating text, art, inserting photographs and clip art into your web page and hyperlinking your pages together. Choosing an Internet Provider and the WWW will also be discussed. Students should come to class with a floppy disk. Prerequisite: Knowledge of the Internet and Windows.

Course: Introduction to Computer Animation with Flash MX

Have fun creating eye-catching animations! Flash brings both pictures and text to life-- with movement, fade in/out techniques, scenery changes and transformations. These effects can be incorporated into email attachments, personal greeting cards, digital photo albums and movies, and web sites. Course:  Digital Photography: Advanced Editing Features

Learn fast and easy techniques that will turn your digital photos into works of art, screen savers, photo albums, and slide shows that are memorable-- as well as email-able! In addition, you’ll learn how to get rid of “red eyes”, special effects like 3D, and how you can download free editing software. Whether you bring along digital photos or not, you’ll take home a CDR with what you did in class. Prerequisite: Introduction to Digital Photography: The Basics or some experience with digital photographs.

A scanner can be an incredible accessory to your home computer because it enables you to convert old photographs and illustrations, as well as negatives and text, into a digital format. In this workshop you will learn and practice proper scanning techniques, as well as learn how to set up a scanner and what kind of scanner you should purchase to suit your needs.
