Office of Transfer Credit Evaluation

Welcome to the Office of Transfer Credit Evaluation and welcome to LaGuardia Community College, one of the most diverse colleges in the country! We welcome applications from students seeking to transfer from other accredited colleges and universities.

Transfer students are a vital part of the University community, contributing substantially to academic and extracurricular life. Each year more than 6,000 transfer students enroll at LaGuardia; more than half are nontraditional age or international students and a third come from non-community colleges.

The Office of Transfer Credit Evaluation is here to assist you with your transition from your prior college(s) to LaGuardia. Evaluation of transfer credits is completed by the Admissions Office prior to a transfer student's first registration. Therefore, students transferring to LaGuardia know what courses have been accepted by LaGuardia and during the registration process, they learn how the transferred credits apply to their LaGuardia degree.

How to become a Transfer Student:

For every stage of life, there's a right place for you to be. Evaluate where you are now in your academic career, and consider whether LaGuardia Community College may be the next step for you. If you have not yet applied to LaGuardia Community College, please contact Admissions to start the application process. As a transfer student, you have already begun working toward some of your educational goals. To evaluate if LaGuardia Community College is right for you, review our admission criteria and then use the transfer of credit guidelines to assess how the course work you have already taken might apply to a specific degree program at LaGuardia.

Office services are provided Monday through Thursday to current LaGuardia day and evenings students by appointment.
 

Transferring from LaGuardia

LaGuardia's Transfer Services Office counsels students regarding their likelihood of success at other institutions to which they may seek admission after LaGuardia. Through shared information, counselors at each sending institution apprise students of specific curricular or degree requirements so that appropriate preparation for transfer can be made as far in advance as possible.
