ANTHONY HARGRAVES

Hi! I’m Anthony Hargraves – a math major here at LaGuardia Community College . I was born and raised in New York City and currently reside in the Bronx . I’m studying to become a math teacher and later on a college professor. I enjoy music and art, reading and math, dancing and working out, bowling and shopping (don’t ask haha), and taking relaxing walks through the more scenic areas of the city.
After having an API tutor for my pre-calculus section in spring 2007, I realized the benefits of an API tutor were insurmountable. Sometimes professors move very quickly because there is too much information to present in too little time. Unfortunately, students do get stuck and “fall through the cracks.” It can be hard to keep up with the fast pace of school, work, and home life and API helped me a great deal.
API tutors get the opportunity to step in, ease the pain, and help a student stay on track. They get to work with students and help them to strive for the best. They get to share their knowledge, skills, and abilities with their students. They get to make a personal bond with their students. They get to practice leadership skills, organizational skills, tutoring and teaching skills, and much more. There are infinite benefits – emotional and educational – that this position provides. That is exactly why I became an API tutor.
