Hi, my name is Kaedra and I
am from Brazil . I have been living in the U.S. since
December 2006 and LaGuardia has been my school since then.
At LaGuardia I learned English and fell in love with
psychology, the subject that I now have the pleasure to be
tutoring.
When I was six years old I started to do gymnastics and for
9 years I trained five hours a day Mondays to Saturdays.
When I was nine years old, I was inspired by my brother to
take Karate classes and after six years I earned my green
belt. These sports taught me that perfection comes through
practicing. I also learned how to work in groups, deal with
losses and fight for what I want.
In high school I had the chance to learn not only
mathematics, Portuguese,. but also Computer Science. I
finished high school with two certificates and preparation
to get into the working force. However, that wasn't enough
for me. While taking high school classes, I also took
Spanish classes and was a volunteer in a Family's School
Project in which schools are kept open on weekends offering
the community a place for entertainment and knowledge.
My biggest challenge now is to cope with the distance
between me and my family. My dream is to go back to my
country knowing that everything I have done so far will pay
off. My scariest fear is to fail in life. My greatest hope
is to have a good and healthy place to raise my children.
