On Saturday, November 10, 2012 the City University of New York's Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment will co-sponsor the "Crossing the Bridge: How Do We Prepare Students for Mainstream College Work?" conference on best practices in reading/writing instruction. LaGuardia Community College will host the conference from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The keynote speaker is Dr. David Kirkland, an associate professor in the field of urban education.
Educators throughout CUNY and beyond will present sessions on a range of topics including Strengthening Core Learning: Competencies, Integration and Student Success, Digital Learning: Blogging and the Use of Social Media in the College Classroom, reading, Writing and Student Identities, and more.
